"The word... is Noggro!"
An article in Slate addresses a new version of the Swedish ice cream bar "Nogger," one that's covered in licorice and called "Nogger Black."
I suppose the entire point of this post is that people are morons, and also as an excuse to include the last line of the article:
"Maybe it's time to start a counteroffensive. The brother of a Slate colleague recommends that Ben & Jerry's test-market a new flavor called W.E.B. DuBoisenberry."
That floored me.

Happy We Have A Pope Day, Everybody!
Benedict is a great title, but when you take into account that he could have been Hilarius II... Cardinal Ratzinger really dropped the ball.
Seriously, yay for the Pope.
[Thanks to Jay Allman, editor at Toon Zone, for pointing this out.]

Yep.
The trouble with the Democrats' public image. OK, they've got way more problems, but this is one of them.

Where Will Ben Be Part 1: Korea... ?
It's almost decided that I will Gyeongju next year on a Princeton in Asia fellowship. I visited that city for a few days last year, and it's incredibly beautiful.
But this is still up in the air, as I may get offered another PiA posting and the JET results are rumored to come out on Monday, which means I may also have that to fall back on if I decide Gyeongju isn't right for me.
It's an exciting week.
